DIY dinner party/wedding menus

Alright so obviously these are for my wedding, but they are definitely a cute dinner party idea too!

Supplies
  1. Library due date cards (i bought mine at  Knot & Bow on Etsy)
  2. Helvetica letter stamps (Michael's)
  3. Black stamp pad
  4. Due date stamp (bought on Amazon.com)
  5. Black pen
Decide how you want your menu to look. I wanted MENU big at the top with the date of the event (Aug 06 2011 - my wedding) on the side under: Due Date)
Using stamp pad stamp each letter individually in the desired spot, add the date of the event with your due date stamp.

Below I created a sample menu, but in actuality all my menus are still blank, cause who knows what will happen with the catering!

*Sorry I used a crappy one that I was going to toss*
Enjoy your beautiful and unique menus and impress your friends with your DIY skillz. : )

Lovely Sunday baby shower

Today my friend Natasha and I hosted a baby shower for our sweet friend Ivy at my house. It was so much fun to plan, decorate, and throw! Here are some pictures from the day with a DIY on Thursday for the "baby girl" banner.

Salvaged window pane, fabric banner, and last minute Polaroid bump pics. Momma-to-be is gluten free, so the cupcakes were AMAZING gluten free cupcakes by Betty Crocker, Natasha the amazing baker that she is whipped up some delicious cream cheese frosting to go on top. And they were adorable to boot.

Loved putting my old thrifted tins to use by displaying cuties in them. Yum!

This picture does not do the mountain of gifts justice. Another salvaged window pane with mini clothespins glued on for loose cards. Vintage fabric backing added last minute because I cracked one of the glass panes by sitting on it. Whoops.

The glare was so bright my livingroom has two huge windows and other smaller window in it, my apologies.  Ivy had the genius idea of having the ladies fill out thank you card envelopes AT the shower before cards and gifts got separated.

I was going to make a banner with the baby's name on it, but Ryan and Ivy are keeping that name a secret like they are in the CIA. Baby girl was the next best thing. I originally got this DIY from Ashley Ann, It will be my feature DIY this week on Thursday.

The lovely, and TINY mommy-to-be. I think she has gained like 6 pounds.

And this picture because I love that Ivy looks like she is doing acrobats. You can see some more of the mountain of gifts. She is loved and blessed.

Wonderful day, over 30 people crammed into my tiny living room, delicious food, and gift giving galore.

23rd birthday

I turned 23 on Thursday as you already know, with my 24 by 24 post..now here are some pics from the fabulous day. Sushi and thrifting with the girls, cooking class with my one and only, and starbucks from my momma. Couldn't get better.

Thanks mom.

Next stop: Thrifting and sushi with the girls! So fun.

Cooking class at Sur La Table with Greg...SUCH and awesome gift!
Showing off our creation! We made stir fry pork with mandarin oranges, green onions, ginger, bok choy, and sweet and spicy sauce. So delicious! I learned how to properly use a WOK and Greg learned how to properly mince ginger. Other people in the class made chicken with vegetables, salmon with marinated red onions and a farrow, beet, and feta salad. We got to try everything and it was good, let me tell you what!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes, etc on facebook, texts, phone calls, cards, and presents. I felt extremely blessed and loved! Can't wait to see what this year has in store!

Litte Dresses for Africa party

I heard of someone who had a party like this and I though "hey that would be so fun!" So I invited a couple ladies over and we sewed dresses to be sent over to Africa for little girls to enjoy! It was definitely a fun afternoon and the dresses turned out great! Little Dresses for Africa is a wonderful little organization that you should check out...and have a party of your own!

The living room was a mess...but we had a blast!

To have a party of your own all you need is:
Some drinks...

some yummy snacks!
Last but not least, have amazing friends who make adorable little dresses! (Sorry, Ivy, I couldn't find your pictures with your dress!! Or mine...)
Thanks ladies for such a fun time and great cause!
Love, Sav

Christmas today and tomorrow...and then NO MORE CHRISTMAS!

I love Christmas, I really do. All the yummy baked goods and food, the presents and celebrating Christ's birth. All WONDERFUL things, especially celebrating the birth of Christ! But...I am always a little relieved when it is over. I have been running around like a mad woman accomplishing christmasy crafts, and cards, and parties...all before the 17th this year cause we were headed down to have Christmas with the Hortons. : )

So like the title says, I will share a Christmas post today, a Christmas roadtrip/Horton extravaganza tomorrow and then we will be done. Deal? Deal.

A Couple of party pics:

Those YUM trivets can be found here with Ashley's DIY, it is how I made mine too. : )
IKEA
Roommate love, cups are wrong. BS is right.

So many things coming up this week! Stay tuned for Christmas Roadtrip extravaganza tomorrow and Christmas with the Hortons. Also sewing with Marj, the newest member of my family (I almost cried when I saw her for the first time), the simplest DIY in the world (finally right!), and P/30 Restaurant dinner. Yum.
